Seth's post got my attention today for obvious reasons.  

Hello.  

JOY is in the title!

I'm a Seth Godin fan.  I appreciate the way he thinks.  More than that, I appreciate his genius for new paradigm.  

I appreciate his passion for delivering insights that re-frame old behaviors and beliefs...stretching us as a humanity in business and beyond to wake up, to claim our heart-full intelligence (OK, maybe Seth wouldn't call it that...but I would.) and use it for good.

Is your business 'organizing for JOY'?  

I know mine is.

 

Organizing for Joy

Traditional corporations, particularly large-scale service and manufacturing businesses, are organized for efficiency. Or consistency. But not joy.

McDonalds, Hertz, Dell and others crank it out. They show up. They lower costs. They use a stopwatch to measure output.

The problem with this mindset is that as you approach the asymptote of maximum efficiency, there's not a lot of room left for improvement. Making a Chicken McNugget for .00001 cents less isn't going to boost your profit a whole lot.

Worse, the nature of the work is inherently un-remarkable. If you fear special requests, if you staff with cogs, if you have to put it all in a manual, then the chances of amazing someone are really quite low.

These organizations have people who will try to patch problems over after the fact, instead of motivated people eager to delight on the spot.

The alternative, it seems, is to organize for joy. These are the companies that give their people the freedom (and yes, the expectation) that they will create, connect and surprise. These are the organizations that embrace someone who makes a difference, as opposed to searching for a clause in the employee handbook that was violated.

Love, love, LOVE Abraham's description of the Vortex from the March 24th, 2010 Boca Raton recording.  

I've not heard them describe quite this way before; it resonates so deeply and completely in this form.  And it reminds me of the way I talk about Joy of Brilliance.  YAY!!  That feels good.

"Best way of defining Source...or 'in the Vortex' is it's this INFUSIVE LOVE, it's this undeniable knowledge, it's this SENSE OF UTTER CONFIDENCE & WELL-BEING.  It's a State of BEing...not a State of DOing."

I've loved the Playing for Change project and all they've created since it's conception.  Mark Johnson's vision for Peace through Music is inspiring. 
 
My personal favorite along the Playing for Change journey has always been Grandpa Elliott, a street performer since the age of 6 (he's now 70!) from a corner in New Orleans.  Grandpa Elliott's heart and soul are palpable as he does what he loves...sharing his music with the people of New Orleans.  Now, through Playing for Change, his music is global.  His new CD Sugar Sweet is newly released.

Which state do you live in?  Not geographically...  Rather, emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually...etc.  

JOY of Brilliance is my chosen, beloved, ecstatically WONDER-full State of Being.

When giving presentations, I share this...

"Where do I live?  I live in a State of Being called Joy of Brilliance.  And I have a second 'home' I love equally; it's the pathway to Joy of Brilliance if ever I feel  displaced from my Joy of Brilliance, and it's another state that just feels so good.  In fact, both feel so good that I've learned to bi-locate and live in both simultaneously.  That state is the State of Appreciation!

Joy of Brilliance, when matched with a State of Appreciation is a place of BEing-ness that FEELS SO GOOD.  It is a 'Connected to the Source Within Us', JOY-full, Brilliant State of Being that exudes our uniqueness, our naturalness, the magic of Who We Really Are."  

When we live in and from natural Joy of Brilliance, we are ALIVE in all senses of the word...and we THRIVE blissfully in all we are...not to mention in all we do.  

How do you find your JOY of Brilliance?

 

 *  You FEEL your way there!    
*  By focusing on what FEELS GOOD... 
*  By focusing on how you want to feel, and choosing to feel that right now.

I ask again...

Which State do you live in?
Are you choosing consciously?
Does it FEEL GOOD there?

OK...so I know this is silly...but I can't help it.

I just had to post a success story for Mother Nature. 

She's ahead of schedule. 

She's done an amazing job of just being. Living in the moment and seeing her way forward.

The evidence is everywhere!!! Tiny flowers peaking above ground, growing buds on the trees, more activity amongst the squirrels...

And this morning there was the cutest little chipmunk bathing outside my bedroom window...

And just mintues ago a flock of Geese flew over head honk-honking their arrival!

Congratulations on your SUCCESS, Mother Nature.

You've done it again! Spring has sprung! ...and look at you, manifesting it before the actual spring equinox!!

What a glorious example you set for us. Oh, I know...winter may rear up again a time or two...but I know that won't shake you...winter's a part of you, too...you know the cycles more than any of us. You're a great teacher; you know who you are and you know how to BE. Thank you, Mother Nature. We love and appreciate you!!!

Your presence enriches our experience so very much. You support us in our JOY of Brilliance like no other. You rock, Mother Nature!!!! ...Keep Shining! (Like I need to tell you that, huh? Laughing ) You're the BEST!
